ILLADELPH LEGENDS
Founded in 1997 Illadelph Legends Festival is the first noted street dance festival of its kind. Needless to say, illadelph Legends Festival became a model for other noted Street Dance festivals nationally and internationally such as Step Your Game Up, Style Is King (Sweden), House Intensive (NYC) and Ladies of Hip-hop to name a few. Devoid of competition IDF consists of master classes, lecture demonstrations, open jam sessions, panel discussions, performances and break-out sessions from 9 am-5 pm daily. This festival invites noted scholars and seminal living legends and pioneers to teach and mentor its practitioners. Past and present instructors are B-boy Lip Lep (NYC Breakers), Crazy Legs (Rock Steady Crew), Buddha Stretch (Elite Force), Ken Swift (Rock Steady Crew), Pop Master Fable, Tweet Boogie, King UpRock, Kim D. Holmes, Mike Manson, King Charles, Jiptheruler, B-girl Rockafella, B-boy KwikStep, Don Campbell Lock, Tyrone Proctor, Aqua Boogie, Shabbadoo, Greg Campbell Lock Jr, Popping Pete, Boogaloo Sam, Sugar Pop, Skeeter Rabbit (rip), Mr. Wiggles, Medea Sirkas, Violeta G, Noah-Lot, Nubien Nene, Soul Fire aka Jazzy J, Meech (France), Eva Shou (Denmark) Robin Dun, Peaches Rodriguez, Hiro (Japan), and many more.
IDF is designed to bring together some of the most influential and inspirational instructors from around the world to teach and mentor festival participants ranging from beginner/advanced students to professional and emerging practitioners. These originators and renowned practitioners provide hands one experience and mentorship. Suffice to say IDF’s goal is to provide authentic foundation in various street dance styles like Hip-hop, House, Breaking, Campbell Locking, Popping & Boogaloo, Waacking, Vogue, Lofting, Lite Feet, Wu-Tang, Dance Hall, Detroit Jitting, Chicago Footwork, Strutting and Rocking. In addition, IDF houses a unique certificate program for practitioner’s and teacher training. Rennie Harris Street Dance Certificate is the first of its kind and focuses on pedagogy and practice. In other words, Rennie Harris’ Street Dance cert is for those who aspire to teach and or improve their knowledge of various street dance styles and history. Also, geared to practitioners who seek to improve their technique, knowledge of street dance history and theory of Hip-hop culture.
